Championships or a local cross race, the Specialized Crux Pro Cyclocross Bike
combines a FACT 11r carbon frame with SRAM’s fully wireless Force eTap AXS
groupset, making it a compelling proposition for anyone keen for success.
Specialized has knocked huge 400 grams of the frame weight
compared to its predecessor, bring it in around the 900-gram mark, which is
entering into the realm of lightweight road bikes. This lack of weight, coupled
with the flattened top tube, makes shouldering and carrying the bike easier and
quicker. By shortening the seat tube and lengthening the seatpost, Specialized
has increased the bike’s comfort and compliance, meaning less fatigue and more
speed. Tyre clearance is a massive 8mm per side for regulation 33mm CX tyres,
leaving plenty of room for mud around the tubeless-ready Specialized Tracer
Pros.
SRAM’s 12-speed Force eTap AXS groupset utilises wireless
technology to initiate shifting, meaning that there are no cables to get clogged
with mud and grass. With just one lever per side, the large shifters are easy
to hit with cold, wet hands or when tired at the end of a race, and the powered
derailleurs always hit the right gear when asked. The AXS smartphone app allows
some customisation of functions and provides information on battery health and
maintenance.
Roval’s Terra CL wheelset has 25mm wide, 32mm deep carbon
rims for cutting through any mud and supporting wider CX tyres, with 24 DT
Swiss Comp Race spokes per wheel and a DT Swiss based Roval 350 star ratchet
rear hub. A carbon seatpost and handlebar adds the finishing touches to this
race-ready machine.
